Three-lap online replay-ghost race

Afterlap by Arcadigo

Afterlap is a free 1v1 and 2v2 online racing game with a 75-second cap and one unusual consequence: after a player completes a lap, the server replays that recorded route as the player’s moving ghost on later laps. Finish three laps to trigger the score limit, or lead on finish and progress team points at regulation. Phase grants 1.2 seconds of obstacle and shortcut phasing on a seven-second cooldown, while checkpoint order, live steering and every recorded ghost remain authoritative.

What is the purpose of Afterlap?

Drive a clean lap now because its exact route becomes traffic later; every improvement changes the obstacle pattern for the whole race.

The objective

Complete three valid laps to finish early, or hold the higher finish and progress team score at the 75-second horn. An exact regulation tie is recorded as a draw.

Your first match

  1. Follow every checkpoint in order; an invalid shortcut cannot create a lap.
  2. Use the first lap to learn a stable line, not only the fastest possible turn.
  3. Watch where your prior-lap ghost re-enters crowded sections.
  4. Save the 1.2-second Phase for a real obstacle or shortcut window instead of activating it on open track.

Focused controls

One core action and one signature decision

Every player enters with the same actions. Timing and coordination create the advantage; there is no paid loadout or hidden stat bonus.

Steer

Guide the racer through checkpoints in order. A completed lap records the authoritative route that its replay ghost will follow.

Phase

Gain 1.2 seconds of obstacle and shortcut phasing on a seven-second cooldown. Checkpoint order and authoritative steering still apply.

Afterlap FAQ

Questions before the first match

What makes Afterlap different from a normal race?

After each completed lap, the server replays that racer’s exact prior route and timing as a moving collision ghost for everyone, including its owner.

Can a ghost eliminate a racer?

No. Contact causes a short slowdown or spin but no damage or elimination. The race remains about route choice, timing and recovery.

What does Phase do?

Phase lets a racer pass through replay ghosts for 1.2 seconds. It has a shared published cooldown and cannot skip checkpoints or create progress.

How do you win?

Complete three valid laps first. If the 75-second horn arrives, the server ranks lap, checkpoint and exact track progress; an exact tie is a draw.

Can Afterlap use bots?

Instant Match may fill open seats with clearly labelled AI that follows the same checkpoints, ghost collisions and Phase cooldown. Human Only never adds AI.

Human Only never inserts AI and waits for every racer in the selected 1v1 or 2v2 format until the player cancels.
