Gold and ivory chess kings facing across an illuminated three-dimensional board

Classic chess on a richly rendered board

Select a piece and choose a legal destination. The live server checks each move, turn order and the end of the game, while the board makes the position, last move and available choices easy to read.

How to win

Protect your king, develop your pieces and deliver checkmate. A game can also end by resignation, stalemate or another legal draw.

Start playing

  1. Choose public matchmaking or create a private friend link. Public matchmaking uses a labelled bot after eight seconds without a human opponent.
  2. Select one of your pieces, then choose a highlighted legal destination.
  3. Watch for check, plan a legal defense and pursue checkmate.

Two ways to start

Invite a friend or enter public matchmaking

Every game uses the same chess rules and the same starting pieces for both sides.

Challenge a friend

Create a private 1v1 link on the play page and share it. Your invitation reserves the opposing seat for that friend.

Find a human

Enter the public 1v1 queue. It looks for another person first and identifies the opponent before the first move.

Bot fallback

If no person joins the public queue after eight seconds, the match starts against a clearly labelled AI. Bot games do not change competitive human rating.

  • Click a piece, then click a highlighted square
