This Tandem Tilt beginner guide explains how to guide one neon orb through five checkpoints before a 60-second timer expires. You can play alone with full movement control or share one device in Duo mode. In Duo, one pilot controls left and right while the other controls up and down. Progress depends on combining those inputs instead of treating them as two separate characters.

Understand the goal
A run contains five checkpoints, moving hazards and narrow timing windows. Reach each checkpoint in order and cross the finish gate before the timer reaches zero. A collision costs time and sync, but it does not eliminate either player or force a long restart.
The visible result explains the run with finish time, checkpoint progress, collisions and a sync score from 0 to 100. Treat the score as feedback about smooth shared control, not as a hidden personality or compatibility rating.
Solo practice keeps both movement axes under one player for the entire run. Duo mode splits the axes and swaps the roles after checkpoint three. The game pauses for a large 2–1 warning before that swap, so neither player needs to guess when responsibility changes.
Tandem Tilt controls
In Solo mode, use WASD or the arrow keys on desktop. On a supported touch screen, use the complete directional pad.
In Duo mode, the horizontal pilot uses A and D or Left and Right. The vertical pilot uses W and S or Up and Down. On touch screens, separate horizontal and vertical pads make each role visible.
Pressing two compatible directions produces diagonal movement. For example, right from the horizontal pilot and up from the vertical pilot move the shared orb toward the upper-right. Opposing inputs do not create a stronger move; the useful skill is agreeing on one path and releasing at the right moment.
Begin with small corrections
New players often hold a direction too long, then answer the overshoot with another long correction. That creates a zigzag and raises collision risk. Use shorter taps near gates and longer holds only when the next stretch is open.
The horizontal pilot should watch the orb’s left-right line relative to the next checkpoint. The vertical pilot should watch its height. Both players should also look one obstacle ahead. If each person watches only their own control pad, the duo reacts late.
A simple callout rhythm helps:
- “Right” or “left” for the next horizontal correction.
- “Up” or “down” for the next vertical correction.
- “Hold” when the current direction should continue.
- “Release” when both players should stop adding input.
The calls should describe the next useful action, not explain the previous mistake.
Approach checkpoints from the centre
Aim through the middle of each checkpoint rather than clipping its edge. A centred line gives both pilots room to correct if a moving hazard changes the timing. Edge approaches leave one player with almost no safe correction space.
Slow slightly before a narrow gate. The fastest-looking route is not always the fastest completed run: one avoided collision can save more time than a risky direct entry.
After crossing a checkpoint, release unnecessary input and locate the next target before accelerating again. This short reset prevents momentum from carrying the orb into a hazard while the duo is still celebrating the previous gate.

Prepare for the axis swap
Checkpoint three is the major beginner transition. In Duo mode, a 2–1 pause announces that the horizontal pilot will inherit vertical movement and the vertical pilot will take horizontal movement.
Use the pause to lift your hands, identify the new keys or touch pad and say the new role aloud. Do not keep pressing the old input through the countdown.
The first correction after the swap should be small. Each player needs a moment to translate the course into the new axis. Trying to regain full speed immediately often causes an avoidable collision near checkpoint four.
Solo controls do not swap. The role-change advice applies only to local Duo runs.
Recover from a collision
After contact, first identify which side of the obstacle is open. Do not let both pilots press a reflex direction without a shared plan. One player should call the escape axis, then the other adds the second correction only when the orb has clearance.
Avoid trying to recover lost time in the same second. Smoothly returning to the course protects the remaining checkpoints and sync score. Frantic reversals often create a second collision.
If the run is already unlikely to finish, continue through as many checkpoints as possible. Checkpoint progress and collision count give you a specific target for the next attempt.
A reliable first-run plan
For checkpoints one and two, use conservative lines and learn how long each input moves the orb. Before checkpoint three, agree that both players will release during the role-change pause. After the swap, make one small correction at a time until the new roles feel clear.
At checkpoint four, prioritize a clean entry rather than chasing the fastest split. For the final gate, call the centre line and keep the orb moving through the finish instead of stopping at the visible boundary.
The beginner rhythm is read, call, move, release. It works on keyboard and touch because it separates route choice from input.
